AGE-SPECIFIC INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SOCIAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION AND SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE (on research of schoolchildren)

One of the most important problems in psychology of personality is an ability of individual to be included into surrounding society. This problem is of a high importance as for both adults, children and adolescents. This mental property depends on many factors: external, social and internal, individually specific. The problem of factors and the peculiarities of social adaptation was investigated in this article on the basis of available scientific researches. The special attention is given to analysis of concept «social intelligence» as to the psychological component of social-psychological competence of a personality. The concept «social intelligence» is regarded in connection with the concepts «intellect» and «emotional intelligence» but has some disparities. The author proposes definition of this concept complementing it with perceptual and behavioural aspects and tries to form some pragmatic recommendations and advices how to ready to the social-psychological adaptation of a person. The problem of the levels of it’s development in adolescence are examined in the article, because one of the most complicated psychological processes of teenage age is the effective course of the adaptation process and the formation of the ccommunicative competence. Special attention is paid to the process of the structural components of the social-psychological competence. Data of experimental research of pupils social intelligence and social-psychological adaptation components are presented and discussed. The article substantiates existence of correlation between the level of the individual social-psychological adaptation (adaptation, disadaptation, acceptance of others, self-acceptance, emotional comfort, internality, tendency to dominate) and the level of his/her social intelligence development. It has been noted that the potential of the enriching of the adolescent’s personality greatly depends on the richness of their connections with the social world.
