Abstract

It is noted that one of the main types of such motivation is achievement motivation, which determines the desire of a person to qualitatively perform work at a high level wherever it is possible to show his/her skills and abilities. The purpose of this work is to study the specific content and features of the structure of motivation of achievements of an IT specialist and to identify the mechanisms for its functioning. The objective of this research paper is to supplement scientific understanding of the structure of motivation of achievements of personality of an IT specialist. It is noted that it is reasonable to distinguish four main structural components in the structure of motivation of achievements of IT-specialist: motivation of initiation, motivation of selection, motivation of realization and motivation of postrealization. One of the main mechanisms for actualization of the motivation of an IT specialist is a motivational-emotional assessment of the situation by the subject, consisting of an assessment of the motivational importance of the situation and an assessment of overall competence in the achievement situation. It should be noted that the intensity of the motivational tendency will change depending on the change in two mentioned parameters for IT specialists both with a motive of striving for success and with a motive for avoiding failure. It is stated that the motivational involvement of an IT specialist is both the cause and the result of the activity process, the nucleus of intragenic activity. Formation of motivational involvement of IT specialists at different stages of activity has specific differences, and there are special psychological mechanisms of formation and enhancement of the level of motivational involvement. The conclusion from this study suggests that such components as the motivation of adaptation and the motivation of transcendence shall be distinguished in the structure of motivation of achievement of an IT specialist. The “adaptive” component of achievement motivation is related to striving for being guided by external standards, with the desire to maintain the achieved results at a high level. It has a pragmatic colouring and is associated with an external evaluation of success (praise, reward). The “transcendental” component is connected with the desire to constantly go beyond own limits, not stop at what has been achieved, realize own potential even if the results will not be assessed by others as worthy.

The prospects for further research in this direction is the study of psychological correlates of the achievement motivation in the time perspective of a personality of IT specialist and the optimization of the functional state of the subject of work, which substantially determines his/her willingness to work and professional reliability.
