Abstract

Development of students’ communicative competence during the process of professional education is considered in the article. We focused on the study of the emotional component of communication and its development over a three-year interval. It allowed us to investigate some features of the dynamics of emotional components of communication.

Monitoring the emotional context of interaction, understanding partners’ states of mind and taking into account their reaction are the components of person’s emotional intelligence and important abilities to develop within the professional education. Our results have shown that there are some positive changes in development of those abilities of third – year students, especially within the scales “Managing emotions”, “Self-motivation”, “Empathy”. These changes demonstrate the formation of dispositional basis of the professional development.

Further we analyzed the essence of communication barriers and their influence on the process of interaction in the context of professional communication. It has been found that first-year students have a tendency to produce and experience communicative barriers such as inability to manage emotions and inadequate expressing them, but there is a tendency to decreasing the occurrence of these barriers in professional communication of third –year students.

In addition to emotional component of communication the attention was paid to its motivational basis. We found that during the education student’s attitudes towards the other people become more tolerant, partner-oriented.

The next explored issue was the interrelationships between rates of emotional barriers in communication, motivational orientations in interpersonal communications, interactive orientation of personality and emotional intelligence.

It has been proved that participation in the numerous training courses during the education facilitates the formation of those emotional abilities that determine the productivity of interpersonal interaction and effectiveness the client-oriented communication and reduce the communicative barriers.
